Neck pain

Neck pain is very common, and most of it comes from the muscles and joints of the neck — often after an awkward night’s sleep, long periods in one position, or simply wear over time. It usually settles, but it can linger.

When people typically seek help

Usually when stiffness or pain has lasted more than a week or two, keeps returning, or makes it hard to turn your head, drive or sleep. GCC-registered chiropractors assess and treat neck pain; whether care is appropriate for you is decided at your first appointment — and if it isn’t, a good chiropractor will say so.

See a GP first if…
  • The pain follows an accident, or a blow to the head or neck
  • You have numbness, tingling or weakness in your arms or hands
  • You have a severe headache, fever or sensitivity to light alongside the pain
  • You have dizziness or problems with balance

If any of these apply, contact your GP or NHS 111 before booking anything.
