Headaches have many causes, and most are not serious. Chiropractors see people with some types of headache — particularly those linked to the joints and muscles of the neck, which are often felt alongside neck pain or stiffness.
When people typically seek help
Usually when headaches keep recurring, particularly alongside neck pain or stiffness. GCC-registered chiropractors assess and treat some types of headache; whether care is appropriate for you is decided at your first appointment — and if it isn’t, a good chiropractor will say so.
- The headache is sudden and the worst you’ve ever had
- It follows a head injury
- It comes with fever, a stiff neck, a rash, confusion or changes to your vision
- Your headaches are new and you’re over 50, or the pattern is clearly getting worse
If any of these apply, contact your GP or NHS 111 before booking anything — a sudden, severe headache needs urgent medical advice.
